Yasmin Clear Skin in Questions
how long till yasmin starts to clear my skin? i have been put on yasmin to clear my skin. i hope it works because i have tried everything. has anyone else used this

Ka3na replied: "i'll get back to you"

Kate M replied: "Birth control pills were not actually formulated to treat acne, it's only a common result. If this will work for you, it will probably be between 2-3 months/cycles before you see real results, because the pills need a chance to alter your hormones."

Katie is Ballin' replied: "I think it took 1-3 months for mine to clear up. I wasnt put on it for acne but I did have acne and it helped a alot, I pretty much have no breakouts anymore! Also if you are a teenager it wont clear it up 100% I noticed. Now that I am out of my teens all my ance has seemed to go away. Good luck!"

When to expect clear skin from YASMIN if ever? should i stop or continue to pack 4? i started yasmin to help my skin but so far its either not helped or made things worse definately not helped like i thought it would i am just bout to finish my third month on it ..should i wait and see if it improves and start the fourth pack or just figure its not the right solution for me ....any advice or personal experiences are helpful thank yous im on the end of pack 3 btw

AVRIEL replied: "It your choices but if you think its not helping or making thing worst than don't continue to use it. I use proactive it really works.it hasn't work that fast on me because i forget to use it everyday."

Maddie replied: "Sometimes when you first start a product your skin has to have time to get use to it which can take up to three months. I was once on proactive and it actually made my skin worse. I am now taking benzaclin and it is a very good product. You should check it out."

Jessica replied: "Im on pack 2...no luck yet :("

Mo replied: "I'm on yasmin. My skin wasn't too bad before taking it. But it did help clear it up. It took several months before it actually started to work though. I'd say keep with it. And if it still doesnt do anything talk to your doctor."

YAZ vs. Yasmin for clear skin? Iv been on YAZ and it made my acne soo much worse than it was want clear skin should i give yasmin a try or anyother suggestions ?

Woman In Red replied: "Oh gosh I tried Yasmin so long ago. It too made my skin worse. I personally did not feel going on the RX for that reason was worth it. If you want to try-go ahead but it did not work for me. I was better off without it. Good luck"

Scarlet M replied: "Yaz only treats mild acne so I don't think it is the right birth control to be on if you want it to help you with acne more. Ortho-Try-Cyclen is a popular one that is very common with people who want acne help. I was on Yasmin for over 5 years and my acne was great while I was on it as well. I believe it helps with acne more than Yaz does."

If I go back on Yasmin will be skin clear up? I was on Yasmin for about 5 years before I decided to stop taking it (no reason really, I just felt like I was on too much medication with all my other issues). I stopped taking it in January of this year. When I was 16 I had mild acne on my forehead and Yasmin ended up clearing it up and kept my skin clear for the duration of the time I was on it. Now, though, my skin is literally HORRIBLE. I have cystic breakouts on my chin and neck and some on my forehead. My skin has never been like this before! I've been trying to treat it with topical and pill antibiotics, but I'm tired of waiting for results. Since stopping the Yasmin caused the breakouts in the first place, will my skin clear up if I go back on it? Or would it be better for me to wait the antibiotics out? It's really killing my self esteem and causing lots of anxiety, so I want to do something to get rid of it ASAP!!

kimmiesmooches replied: "Yasmin, and other birth control pills, do help prevent breakouts, and that's probably what kept you from breaking out for so long before you stopped taking it. It can't hurt it if you try to go back on it. If you continue to break out after 4 to 6 weeks back, it's probably a separate hormonal issue that you should consult a dermatologist for. Also, pill antibiotics can weaken the strength of birth control pills. So if you're wanting to prevent unwanted pregnancies, you have to use a back-up birth control method if you continue to take the antibiotics. You should call your doctor and see what he/she says before doing any of this though!"

Gazala K replied: "dont take birth control pills your hormone go boom try omaga 3 fish oil pils its good for pimpls and it will help u in many things check it out on line for benefits."

Does Yasmin causes acne at first and then clear your skin??? PLEASE HELP? I have been on Yasmin for 2.5 and my skin has really broken out. I mean, it does not seem to be helping much. Then I read some stuff about it making it worse for some months than better??? Girls, please give me some insight!!

brizzielady replied: "I think it's different for different women. Personally, I didn't see any improvement in my skin, and I was on it for 3 months. I did, however, notice some really bad migraines, which I've never experienced before, or since. Just give it a little time to see what happens, and then switch if it doesn't work. There are a LOT of other pill options out there for you and at least one is bound to suit your needs."

MORENA replied: "You have to let your body get adjusted to the birth control. It took me a whole month before my face started to clear up when I was on Ortho-triclycline. In the mean time help your face out! Neutrogena has a good line. Use the face wash twice a day follow with the toner to close your pours and the on-spot treatemnt and during the day use the moisterizer. Good luck"

evelinka420 replied: "It's different for everybody depending on your hormone levels prior to takign the pill. Yasmin is an antiandrogenic bc pill...meaning it blocks testosterone comign from your androgens--- as you may know excess testosterone can cause oily skin includign acne and excess body/facial hair. So Yasmin should help with acne and body/facial hair. I was on this pill for a year and I had no side effects at all. It did not make me break out and actually cleared my skin a bit."

Dr. G™ replied: "The type of progestin in the original Yasmin® is derived from testosterone, which is androgenic (albeit in low doses, any amount of androgen has the potential to promote acne breakouts). The new Yasmin® product with drsp contains progestin derived from an anti-androgen substrate Spironolactone. You may be taking the androgen promoting Yasmin® (without drsp) and may want to explore switching to the drsp version with your OB/GYN. Overall Yasmin® with or without drsp is still the least androgenic out of all the varieties of contraceptive pills available. Hope this helps. Good luck!"

Yasmin(birth control) Does it clear up your skin?? Just wondering if anyone with experience noticed their skin to improve on Yasmin?? Any other tips would be great pro's and con's!! Thanks =)

socks replied: "Hi.. I went on Ortho Tri-Cyclin at age 18 for the fact it alleviates menstruel pain and it helps with acne. It worked very well. A few years later I noticed it was causing me to bloat more. It was like I was bloated the entire month except for when I was on my period. So the doc switched me to Yasmin. The Yasmin helped my bloating but I started to break out again. I went back to the doctor after about 6 months of this and they had just come out with the newer Ortho Tri-Cyclin Lo. I went on that and things are great, no zits, no bloating, no cramps and best of all OTC Lo is low in a certain ingredient that all bc pills have that has been known to cause breast cancer. So it helps fight breast cancer as well. These are just my experiences. BC Pills can react differently to everyone. So, my advice.. if the doc thinks you should try Yasmin, then do it. If in 6 months your not satisfied with what it does, go back and ask to try something else. The docs will most likely cater to your needs. ;)"

Lena replied: "I've been on Yasmin for the past 3 years, and the only thing I can truly complain about are mood swings. I haven't gained any weight, nor has my skin gotten worse (except before my period). I don't think Yasmine helps much with skin problems, although they claim it does. When I started taking it, I'd just gotten off Roaccutane, which is a hard-core drug against bad skin (but it worked wonders). There are certain types of pills who DO prevent bad skin, but it depends on how bad your skin is exactly. If you have pustules and infected zits that even appear on your chest and back, then I recommend taking a product like Roaccutane. About Yasmine: this pill barely has any side effects, except for those mood swings I told you about. They would just happen from one minute to the next. Other than that, I had absolutely no problems with it. I once posted a question on here about Yasmin, and some women advised me to get off that pill as soon as possible because it has been known to cause blood clots in the brain. However, I never had any problems with it, and since it's a very light hormone preparation, it's not as bad as some of the other hard-core pills which have very high concentrations of synthetic hormones. I rarely drink and never smoke plus I get lots of exercise in, so I'm not putting myself at risk for any side effects of the pill."

Rosie D replied: "DO NOT GET BIRTH CONTROLL ot will make you depressed seriusly try something else for your skin bc messed me up."

starnickel replied: "The Birthcontrol Pill DIANE helped clear my skin, I didnt have good luck with Yasmin. I have also been on Marvelon and had great luck with it."

Pearl replied: "I was on Depo for 8 years and tried the patch for a few months and then tried Yasmin. Yasmin was terrible for my skin. My skin didn't completely break out but I got little pimples all over my cheeks and chin. I've been off now for almost 2 months and my skin has since cleared up. It was the Yasmin so I know their claims about improving acne is not for everyone."

Which pill is better in clearing the skin? Yasmin or Diane-35? What are the different side effects of both pills? And which pill do you think has lesser negative side effects? Thank you.

VCC replied: "Diane-35 (or Diannete in the UK) is better for skin 100%. It's actually an acne treatment but with the added side-effect of being a birth control. That's because Diane-35 has more estrogen in than Yasmin, infact higher than all the other pills (i think) and it's the higher estrogen that is good for your skin Yasmin tends to have lower negative side effects such as headaches, nausea, bloating/weight. If your specifically looking to help your skin i would just try out Diane-35 first to clear your skin, and if you do get bad side effects than try Yasmin. And even a some time on Diane-35 should help your skin even if you don't stay on it."

MED replied: "I highly recommend that you do NOT go on Yasmin. I was on it for only four months which were too long in my opinion! Yasmin put me through hell, some mornings I could not get up because of how depressed I was and I would just cry all day and not to mention the migranes you get! It's like this pain in your head that you never thought you could have. You gain weight, acne does not improve at all if you've actually GOT the condition of acne and not just a few pimples. You also gain a lot of weight and abnormal hair growth. I recommend Diane, I'm going on it soon and it's an anti-angrogen meaning it kills off male hormones which produce acne and hair growth etc."

Ladies using Yasmin: how long for ur skin to clear up? I've been using it for a month, it made me break out (acne all over my forehead).... will it get better or should i switch to something else?

meeeshka2 replied: "swtich to something else!!.. i used yasmin for a year and always had pimples NOTHING makes them go away.. its so annoying. i thought i was getting them becuase i smoked weed, but then after not smoking for a while i realized they were always there. so i stopped taking yasmin, and poof they went away. wtf. i dunno but stop those pills i had the same problem."

paigenc05 replied: "I'm on Yasmin have been for 5 months and actually my skin hasn't broken out, in fact i think my skin looks better. The say that ortho-tri birth control clears the skin...If it keeps breaking you out...you should switch...nobody wants to have a pizza face :-)"

Mrs.know.It.All replied: "I've been using Yasmine for about 4.5years. Don't remember ever breaking out from it. My sister uses too- and it actually helped her. I'd maybe wait another month to make sure it wasn't caused from something else- And, then yes talk to your doctor about changing if you're still ahving trouble. GOOD LUCK!"

Paxico Trader replied: "Have you considered trying natural birth control so you don't have to worry about side effects like acne? Even if you switch brands, you might get a different side effect with the next brand. I've been using NFP for several years now. It's totally natural and has no side effects. When practiced correctly the effectiveness rate is 98-99 percent."

What contraceptive Pill do you advise that will clear up skin and won't result in weight gain? I have heard Yasmin/Jasmin is pretty good? I really don't want to pick up weight, and when I used to be on the Pill (a very strong one that I decided it would be best to stop taking) my skin was fine- it has been bad since I went off, so I want to clear it up.

s replied: "Its different for everyone. Ask your doctor"

lalala replied: "Dianette was prescribed by me from my GP for my skin. it was excellent"

amandaped25 replied: "Any birth control pill is going to cause some weight gain. It's a hormone. The best for skin is ortho tricyclene and they have a low dose. Everyone is different though. Just talk to your gynecologist and i am sure they will be able to recommend something for you."

backinbowl replied: "Good question for a doctor!"

louisa d replied: "I have used microgynon for years and had no problems with weught gain , skin etc at all but i think everyone is different, speak to your doctor and see what he suggests."

Carthlete replied: "Tricyclen. Helps to clear up my skin, i did put on some weight tho...in all the right places!!! boobs n hips, what more could you want?!"

Angel replied: "Hi i would just go back to the nurse and have a word, i was on femodette and this cleared my skin up brilliantly, but made me gain loads of weight, So i have to change im on Cerazette now i havent put on any weight but my spots are bad but i heard this only last for the first few months.
